Today was the day to see the city. We took the train in from Beaconsfeild into Marylebone Station, traversed the underground and embarked on another day of walking and seeing the sights.
We started with Trafalgar Square. When someone talks about the center of London, they're talking about this square. When we say we live about 20 miles from London, we mean from this square. This square seems perpetually filled with tourists. As we walked through the crowds, I don't think we heard any English being spoken. *feh* Tourists! (we can complain about the tourists now, since we live here ;)
From here we walked along past Big Ben and The Parliament Building, over past Westminster Cathedral and on through St. James Park. We picked up some panini and sat and people watched while we lunched. We headed to the far end of St. James Park and walked by Buckingham Palace and on down to the Thames. There we took a ferry ride on the river, starting from directly across the London Eye and exiting at the London Tower Bridge, stopping to admire London Tower.
(hmmm... I should gmaps pedometer our route and see just how much we covered).
