Snow frosted yardWe woke up this morning to a winter wonderland. At 8:30am there was already a solid three inches deposited and it's still coming down in thick fluffy flakes careening straight down. With no wind it's particularly beautiful, calm and quiet out there. This is possibly the only real snow we'll see this year, it's already more snow than England has seen in years. The flowers blooming are getting a wake up call that, yes, it really is winter. I am, however, a little stuck right now. I would be out there frolicking in the snow, taking scads of photos, or possibly building a snow sculpture, if I didn't have to be at the house today to receive a package and wait for the FreeSat guy to come. And day of ALL days to not have any coffee or cream in the house! I didn't go out and provision our house for this emergency situation. Since we'll be in Denmark and Sweden next week and then in Blackpool the week after that, I've been in "use up all our food" mode to empty our fridge, not in "blizzard stock up mode" at all. Last night I was all disappointed with the news coverage. If it were the U.S. we would have "Severe Weather Team Doppler 3000: Blizzard of ought-seven" updates every fifteen minutes with special graphics and it's own scare tactic theme music. No, the news casters were covering their bases, predicting anywhere from one to ten inches, and by the way, traffic will be affected in the morning, but now on to the next story thank you. But no, as much as it has been since we've been here, England is not all sunshine and flowers.
