Spade Oak Bike ride Mark and I broke out our bikes this weekend. Saturday we rode to the local bike shop off the high street of our village for a few supplies; and yesterday, taking advantage of the 50 degree day, we set out for a ride. Originally we were heading toward the Thames River path, but "no cycling signs" prevented us from going further. Even though we saw someone on a bike coming from the other way, I guess it just all depends on where to hop on the trail. Since cyclists are allowed to ride on sidewalks here (really narrow roads and a surprising amount of weekend traffic makes street riding a little harrowing), we headed in the direction of Marlow to investigate the "Spade Oak" park sign we pass so frequently. There's a wharf and meadow (as well as a newly opened pub and restaurant), and you guessed it, access to the river footpaths. I'm glad we packed our bikes. Now armed with a rack and side bags (c/o the local bike shop off our High Street), it'll make trips to the markets easier, i.e. I'll be able to carry more home; and it'll be another way to explore the area. (p.s. I love Google pedometer :)
