Or rather, "Seriously, why aren't we 300 lbs apiece?" I am genuinely amazed at the quantity of food Mark and I consume at times. There are days when we remark to each other, how much more food would we be consuming each day if we were actually overweight? Because sometimes, it really seems like we eat a ridiculous amount. Now granted, today was a strange food day, we didn't actually have lunch until around 4:30 in the afternoon, so naturally we were doomed to be starving and need to eat a normal meal late at night. I had semi-jokingly asked around 8:30, "Is that steak in the fridge going to be our late night snack?" Come 11:00, Mark observed, "We never had dinner today." "That's why I asked if that steak was going to be our late night snack." I replied. As Mark answered, "I'm game if you are!" we headed on down to the kitchen. I had picked up a gorgeous Prime Strip Steak, perfectly marbled and over an inch thick. We pan seared it in a cast iron skillet, caramelized some onions and Mark created a tasty sauce with mushroom stock and flambeed with Jack Daniels. The sauce was served over buttered egg noodles with a dollop of sour cream and a pile of potent green onions. A huge meal by 11:30pm late night snack standards. But, oh so tasty. Again, I ask, seriously, how can we eat like we do and not be 300 lbs apiece?
