Painting, again
After spending several days helping friends who moved away from town repaint their apartment white last week, I felt inspired and clearly did not get enough painting in over those few days.
As we made a few supply runs to Home Depot to pick up primer and the boring white paint, I noticed a new selection of metallic paints.
At first I considered stripes on a single wall in shades of silver, blue and lavender that closely matched the hue of the blue guest room. I even devised a pattern of somewhat random pattern of one, two and three inch wide stripes.
Closer examination of sample swatches placed in the room, in a variety of metallic shades, prompted the move to gold. It is warm and brilliant in the sunny room and is equally warm as a yellow when the lighting is not so intense. It is gorgeous, the photos do not do the color justice.
I've been focused on the guest bedroom, we've had many guests make use of this space recently. There are plenty more visitors in the queue in the coming year that I wanted to make it a more welcoming space, rather than just a spare room where we tossed miscellany and where the bed was merely a box spring and mattress on the floor.
I've ordered this head board that will attach nicely to the newly assembled bed frame and I have picked up a few odds and ends for the walls that tie together the look I'm going for.
Next on my list is new bedding. Although what is currently on the bed already works well with the color and concept of the room, the materials are too heavy for summer guests.
