After a few tries, Mark had a successful hunt. Because of this, our basement freezer is now full of venison of all sorts of cuts, roasts, steaks and ground. At first, being relatively new to this whole meat eating thing, I was disturbed by the thought of consuming it. It's a deer, for all intents and purposes, an ecological pest in my eyes. But it is a truly organic and extremely lean meat. We put a high premium on purchasing organic meats and produce. This was a free [range] animal and antibiotic free. Only, this freezer full of meat didn't cost us an arm and a leg to procure. Just an afternoon in the woods. Living off the land.
