To offset the more manly hobbies I've been picking up along side Mark, I have decided to teach myself how to knit. I was out shopping with Sue at a fabric store and wandered over into the yarns. It was precisely the amazingly neat yarns that made the decision for me. I picked up some green chenille yarn and confetti yarn determined to knit something. Armed with a "teach yourself to knit kit" which included needles, basic instructions and other knitting paraphanalia, I set to it. So far it has been quite satisfying. Simple alternating lines of knit stitches and purls. Although, I keep ending up with more stitches after a line of purling, I haven't quite figured out what is going on there. A little more practice and I will be alright. I'm going to make a scarf, an easy enough first project. Dark green chenille with the two ends with blocks of the accent confetti yarn. I am already very impressed with myself from the first few inches of stitches. It has the exact same look and feel as my favorite chenille sweater! It's gratifying to be making something that looks like something :)
