It's an Alfa!
As Mark just announced, we are getting another Alfa spider.
Do not fear, there were conditions set before getting this vehicle. If you've been to our house, you know there are too many cars, in particular too many Alfa's in our driveway. The condition being, he needed to sell or piece out or just get rid of the current spider before we would put another vehicle under our belts.
The little red convertible spider we have, I have only been in once and that was on our very first date. We went to Kaya for dinner and to the Cheese Cellar for chocolate fondue dessert, followed by a visit to the West End Overlook. He swept me off my feet in that little red spider. This was several months before Mark and I actually started dating, we were both seeing other people at the time. For a while there, getting that spider on the road had sentimental quality and priority. I kept thinking how nice it would be to have the 'first date' car for years to come. But it has sat in a garage with no engine and the effort and time and money it would take to get it working is far too costly compared to that of just getting one that is sparkly and runs. We're sentimental, but not that sentimental.
So we will get this new one and it will have its own adventure and creation myth attached to it and our history. On the weekend of May 14th we are going to take a train to Chicago, pick it up, have fun in Chicago, take a leisurely drive back, hopefully the weather will cooperate so the top can be down--scarf wrapped around my head and sunglasses. We will stop at a B&B on the way. It will be a wonderful mini vacation, mini adventure weekend.
