It's a little dark outside to get a nice sun filled room photo, but our bedroom is now a River Rock textured 'Volcanic Stone' color. Thank you to Mark's mom for giving me a hand with this room.
I opted for the strategy of rolling on a dark tinted primer to match the textured paint. When it first went on the wall, I was shocked, it was DARK. But once a wall or two was coated, I was hooked and in love with it, the color was rich and deep like mahogany. The first few strokes of the textured paint were certainly scary as it went on the color of chocolate milk, disheartening after falling in love with the primer. Now that multiple coats of the texture are on, it is a formidably deep rich tone.
Photo soon to follow, but it is lovely with the dark hard wood floors and white trim. Although it does make the room seem smaller, it works really well since our bedroom is a fairly decent size and we have very little furniture.
I'm making some sheer curtains for this room, sheer white with evenly spaced out delicate fine white fern leaves. The material has finished edges and I'm just going to make them pole pocket tops, I trust my sewing ability for rectangles, I'm good at simple shapes and lines. These will layer under the white sail cloth tab top curtains I've been meaning to hem and get up in there for a while now.
I thought I was joking a few weeks ago when I said at this rate I'll be able to redecorate my home in a month... who knew this momentum would continue to build like this.
It's been an insanely productive weekend in general. With Sue's truck Mark was able to finally haul away the pieces of car from the back and the truck was handy in picking up a 9x12 berber area rug for the living room. It was $100. Our last area rug was $100 and we got a good four years out of it. This one isn't quite so cream colored and with that ability to camouflage dirt a little better, perhaps we'll get more than four years out of this one. We also did the garden bed spring clean up in the back yard today and I'm nearly finished with all the laundry. Yes, an insanely productive weekend.
Now, off for a well deserved glass of ice cold coke.
