As I sprinkled some food into the salt water tank I noticed something odd in the corner. Our clown fish laid eggs!! Both proud parents have been alternating aerating the bundles. Unfortunately, the tank is not a hospitable environment for raising fry. There are dozens of those pest anemones that would just eat them up, the water pump's intake is wide open and would suck them up and grind them up, there is much too strong of a current for the little ones to stay comfortably hidden in any corner. I could remove the eggs and attempt to hatch them out, but then comes the really hard part. The fry require feedings twice an hour for the first few days, generally live rotifers are preferred, for the next few weeks baby brine shrimp. They do not show their stripage until about the fourth week. Unfortunately, these fry will become food for the anemones. I will keep an eye on them though, the eggs will hatch on the eighth day about an hour or so after dark. Maybe if we're extra super lucky one of the hundreds of eggs will survive all the terrors and trials that await them.
