Happy turkey day!
Today Mark and I hosted our 4th annual Thanksgiving dinner. I love that we can host a family gathering, that we're making a new tradition... it is becoming one of my favorite days of the year.
We fit 10 people around our home made dining room table comfortably (plus a toddler and a baby). We deep fry the turkey outside on the patio after it has brined in spices and broth over night, it cooks in only 45 minutes in the fryer. I hear it's fantastic. Mark's grandmother is the dessert committee providing us with a selection of yummy pies. My dad is the wine committee... as per suggestions of selections by me. The table is full to capacity, home made mashed-potatoes from our organic veggie delivery, home made gravy, heaps of corn, peas, stuffing, cranberry sauce, glazed sweet potatoes and the mashed sweet potatoes that are like a dessert, fresh hot rolls and corn muffins.
We keep a fire burning in the fire place all day. The mantle decorated with holly from the back yard and illuminating the room with a warm glow from fairy lights strung through.
This year, we hosted a family movie night, with our new TV and home theater sound. My parents, Mark
