Today is a happy day! Today was the first day of the organic vegetable delivery service offered through Kretschmann Farm, which we will get a delivery once a week now through November of what happens to be in season. This first drop off contained lots of baby salad greens, spinach, radishes, herbs (chives, oregano, tarragon, sage, cilantro), 1 dozen organic eggs, loaf of organic 7 grain bread and a pile of fresh rhubarb!! Time to make some fresh herbed butter-- even though I just had a couple slices of the bread with just butter and honey, yum! I'm glad we have some goat cheese, red grapes and sunflower seeds (and a few other salad staples) on hand to put together tasty salads for dinner tonight. It is precisely because of this service that out of necessity, demonstrated just how useful and wise an investment it is to purchase a good salad spinner. We will continue to have bountiful and varied salad greens for the majority of the year. I need to dig out a rhubarb crisp recipe! Even though I'm a bit tired tonight, the thought of a piece of hot tart rhubarb crisp with a steaming cup of coffee just sounds too tempting! This is a fantastic Rhubarb Crisp recipe.
