Welcome to the world!

Theodore Quigley Kass arrived via Cesarean section at 9:23pm, weighing in at 7 lbs. 6 oz. with a head of super soft blonde hair and great big blue eyes!

It is a truly remarkable experience to be there for your friend as she labors. I am continually amazed by the human body, what we’re capable of. Women are strong. Little Ted was a trouble maker for mom though, so he needed to make a different entrance than anticipated.

I am struck again with the feeling of something more primitive, innate or tribal, of just being there. It’s difficult to put such strong emotional responses into words. It just felt right to be there, to be a part of the support for both the mom and dad.

This is the second labor I’ve been a part of. It’s a lot to take in and certainly quite the education. The two labors were so different, but I still wonder how it will all unfold for me, how Mark will react. I wonder how long I’ll be able to tolerate the pain until I want relief (which I am planning on). I know my girlfriends will be there and everything will work out fine.

Welcome to the world Ted!
