Naming popularity

Mark directed me to this neat site for looking at naming popularity. Start with an initial, names beginning with Q are gaining momentum!

I spent some time looking at the names of people I know as well as names of people I grew up with. Most people I know have names that hit their peak popularity 10 or 20 years before they were born. Even Deborah hit it’s peak in the 1950’s. Growing up in classrooms flooded with Heather’s and Jennifer’s, it’s easy to see why with the peak of those names.

It figures that most of the names Mark and I like for a potential daughter are on the rise and becoming popular, Maya and Zoe will be the future Heather’s and Jennifer’s. Although, there are a few I like that are low on the radar, Violet and Thea. Our potential son would be named after Mark, variations of which have been declining in popularity.
