Time for some well deserved rest
Posted by deb on November 7th, 2004 filed in Musings & adventuresThis weekend, we were People of Action ™.
Outside, the yard and gardens were taken care of for the winter, much hedge trimming; pruning, lawn mowing and leaf raking went on. I potted some flowering plants that won’t reseed themselves and brought them inside. Items that need stored for the winter were stored. The patio neatly tidied up. Mark dealt with bits of the basement and garage, huge tasks in and of themselves.
Inside, I took care of a major thinning and reorganization of our library. A few weeks back I had thinned our paperbacks. Mostly science fiction that has sat idle for ages was put in a pile to donate to the local branch of a library a couple blocks away in our community. This was prompted by the loss of a section of shelving to create a built gun cabinet. Today, I had the other categories to contend with. Needless to say, there is now room for library growth. Never fear, I won’t have any problem filling the void ![]()
I’m always surprised by the amount of garbage going out of our house after a weekend of work like this. It’s no secret that I am an anti-packrat, everything must go, no clutter here, utility is a priority over sentimentality. Yet, we seem to accumulate Stuff at an incredible rate, I don’t even know where it all goes. So it makes me feel warm and fuzzy to see so much going OUT the door.
So much done, so much organized, that much less Stuff in our house.
*contented sigh*
