Motorcycles and Thoughts on Decorating.

Busy. Still Lymey, but recovering nicely. I’ve been on the antibiotics for five days now and the symptoms have disappeared, still feeling just slightly warm but that just might be my imagination.

I just finished the first weekend (out of two) of the Motorcycle Safety Course. So far, it has been an exceedingly positive experience, boosting both my confidence and skill level. I want to get out on my scooter tonight, I’m excited to zip around our neighborhood.

I have been having heaps of fun helping a friend with their new house. They are taking a similarly smart strategy that we used, getting the big jobs out of the way before moving the furniture and belongings in. Painting each room, then taking out the old carpet (it makes for a convenient drop cloth) and refinishing the gorgeous hard wood floors. I have really enjoyed the shopping for curtains and hardware and paint and area rugs. Why do I loves this stuff so?

The excitement and fun is contagious, once I get a free weekend, in two weeks, I will repaint my living room. The supplies have been patiently waiting for me.

I purchased frames for large prints of some of my black and white photos of our Dogwood tree in bloom, a flowering tree that lends itself to the simplicity and elegance of black and white photography. They will look sharp against the darker color textured paint that is going on the walls.

Suede textured wall color to be “Rattlebox”:

An original and in the frame:

The long wall where the fish tank used to be:

The frames are ideal, I would like more of this style in a variety of sizes to reframe old shots and perhaps for additional large prints of more recent work. Everything I’ve used to decorate our home with has been either my own photography or simple displays of natural materials. Splashes of pressed leaves, spread butterflies, wheat, pine cones. It has developed into it’s own sort of theme.
